premise:

piranesi wanders through his world alone, exploring and documenting his world, which is made of endless halls. the halls are the world: they have towering giant marble statues, tides crash through, marine ecosystems, mist, and wreckage. outside the halls there are only courtyards and stars.

excerpt:

I walked rapidly through several Halls, not knowing or caring where I went. Suddenly I saw in front of me the Statue of the Faun, the Statue that I love above all others. wendy series by walter scott


so good bruv. it's so expressive, it's a collection of strips that morph into a long-form comic about a fleabag-type artist, wendy, navigating her 20s, but the charm is really in how walter scott does these cartoony expressions that i've never seen before.

my favorite is when wendy goes β€’.β€’, a kinda fakery/anxious umbrella feeling. there are four books but even one will do, but you'll want all four...

take this with a grain of salt cuz i'm only about 3/4 through the omnibus as of 6/29/25 12：15AM ET, though it is a thickkkk book。i've been finding the characters a bit flat, i know they're supposed to be fun and accessible but i can't really get attached to any of em.

that said, i haven't put it down yet, it is a fun read and i feel like i can pick it up and put it down at my own whim.

ok i know five moons out of five sounds crazy because when you start listening to this album it genuinely feels like you're being struck in the head repeatedly with a metal pole, with the occasional BONNNGGG of drums from a distant land. a few of the songs actually made me feel deeply bad, like that sweaty time-anxiety guilt you get after a nap sometimes...just me? but dude, i swear to you when i focused my brain i really got it, like it felt like anything artistically was really possible, like shit clarence CLEARED for me bro. i was drawing to this and out came some of the most expressive comic pages i've ever done.

it seems like forever and never ago that i've consumed art that i genuinely could not compare to one other thing i've ever seen/heard/experienced. i recommend it highly but do know, you gotta focus for this one (all credit to may torres for first showing me this album it's so good.)

k-pop demon hunters by sony animation


ok, i know, i know. everyone and their mom has watched this movieβ€”and for those who haven't, probably a good reason why. too much slop in triple A animation lately (sequels, adaptations, tired plots galore)? or maybe you're not into k-pop and it wouldn't be for you?

i have to counter with: i haven't watched any inside out 2 minecraft movie OR EVEN wicked and my k-pop appreciation days are over, but man...i liked this movie a lot. it's really not about k-pop...it's just expressive and fun and steeped in culture. felt a similar joy to watching the barbie movie, tbh...it just puts a nice shimmery glaze over my summer. also JINU IS HOT if you need a reason to watch it. something for everyone, really

**the main points of june for me --audrey**

5_25 started my illustration residency at the school of visual arts. got to spend all of june making comics and learning about illustration. met some cool people

6_8 got hot pot in flushing with cyrus and family, super delicious. my favorite was something called tai chi beef, it was covered in chilis shaped like a yin yang. lost my debit card right before β€” one of the ATMs in flushing ATE it. just got a new one tho so it's ok

6/11 wingstop

6_20 voted early. saw this person there that i've seen three other times this same month, in completely unrelated places...a complete stranger

6_23 grabbed dinner and walked uptown with tess and blake :)

6_24 last minute touches to my comic at bobst before the show while voice calling may, jakob and cyrus. zohran won! the streets looked bright on the walk home

6_25 sva open studios! i showed my work and saw with sofia and her friend, and cyrus.

6_26 coffee at pret, breaking down the show, and goodbyes. a couple of us (lily, eden, brittney) went to kinokuniya afterwards

6_29 went to pride parade, wore a barbie dress, body glitter and rainbow flag cape :). highlights: zohran mamdani waved at us, seeing the lesbian motorcycle gang, getting sticker handouts

got hooked on getting too good to go from this one bakery near me, called petit chou. the first time they gave me delicious gourmet pastries and stuff but at some point they started giving me bacon egg and cheeses...only bacon egg and cheeses. i don't like bacon egg and cheeses...
